BIM coordination for buildings

Vesilennuki projekti BIM koordineerimine

What is BIM coordination?

Model-based design coordination. Our role is to act as the project manager’s right hand when it comes to the model and the broader scope of digitalisation. This includes everything from setting up Common Data Environments (CDEs) and assembling the federated model, to guiding project stakeholders, performing clash detection, and generating data schedules directly from the model. Working with us also brings the benefit of managing updates among team members and maintaining smooth “relationship management” with the client.

BIM coordination can start as early as the concept design stage, continuing through the preliminary, detailed, and construction documentation phases, all the way to the as-built model.

Benefits of BIM coordination

With us, model-based design is not just about meeting government requirements – we make the model truly work for you.

  • Fewer errors in the project: Effective coordination helps prevent and reduce design and construction errors, which in turn saves both time and money.
  • Smoother and more transparent communication: BIM enables all stakeholders to view the same model in real time and comment directly on the work completed.
  • Accurate quantities: The model allows for precise material take-offs and scheduling forecasts, helping to avoid cost overruns and delays.

Where BIM theory says “it can’t be done,” we make it a habit to find a solution.

Federated model assembly

We integrate models from different project stakeholders into a single federated model, providing a comprehensive overview of the entire project.

Data content validation

We verify the accuracy of model data, ensuring correctness in both format and content. The value of a model lies not only in its geometry but also in the data it contains.

Clash detection

We perform geometric clash checks between different discipline models. This allows us to identify, for example, how heating and ventilation systems fit together within the building and to prevent potential conflicts.

Quantity takeoffs

We produce detailed information schedules containing essential data on materials, quantities, and other critical project-specific details.

BIM Coordinator

"The dedicated Tarcon team has helped us enrich our models with valuable data across various projects. When certain projects lacked specific information, they also assisted with data coordination, using tools such as BIMcollab. In addition, Tarcon has organised IFC training sessions, covering the fundamentals of model-based information exchange, enabling project participants to work together more efficiently. Always professional – exactly the kind of experts you need for BIM coordination."

"A big thanks to the TARCON team – their persistent and diligent collaboration with the contractor has paid off, resulting in an excellent as-built model. It was evident that Tarcon’s way of presenting the percentage of completion at construction meetings motivated the builders to deliver section by section. No one wanted to be the bottleneck, and that’s how the project stayed on track. There is always room to aim higher, but so far this is the best as-built model meeting RKAS requirements that I have seen."
